Introduction for Taster Month
National Medical Research Month (Taster Month) is a single or multiple day event held during November to December 2016, where students visit a research group to see what it is like to work in academia. The event is targeted for Year 1 and Year 2 medical students with little to no previous experience in research, and aims to break down the barrier of access to researchers and knowledge of opportunities. The relationship developed during these taster sessions would ideally lead to funded vacation studentship or summer studentship.
What is research? Who are academic clinicians? Taster Month gives you the perfect opportunity to shadow research group to get a taste of what research encompasses. Through our nation-wide scheme, medical students will get a chance to participate in research meetings, learn about research techniques and analysis. Live a day as a scientist and see what is all that buzz about research!
We are currently recruiting research groups from across UK to be part of this exciting scheme, and to bring to you a wide selection of research groups. Visit this page soon for the release of our Taster Month Booklet and application.
